Welcome to the Guiang Genealogy Website!
This Guiang Website is created to reach out to all Guiangs whose ancestors originated in the historic town of Paoay, Ilocos Norte, Philippines and to provide genealogical information about the Guiang clan. If you are a full-blooded Guiang (or mixed) who may want to know the Guiang ancestry and would like to trace your family root, you are encouraged to visit this Guiang Website.
As direct descendants of Don Martin Guiang, the founder who established the municipality of Paoay and gently ruled the town in 1701-1704, we hereby try our very best to formally chronicle all gathered facts and figures related to the Guiang heritage.
Firstly, the development of this Website was inspired by the impressive joint efforts and dedications of our two uncles who worked and studied in the United States of America, the late Hilario Pobre Guiang and Mauro Guiang Fuertes.
While both spent their twilight years in Paoay after returning home from their US sojourn, they extensively researched and documented the genealogy of the Guiangs between 1956 and 1967. The duo, together with the support of their cousin, the late Fernando Pobre Reyno who returned home earlier from the USA, recognized the significance of documenting the family genealogy for the sake of posterity, both for the present and next generations of the Guiang clan. In memoriam, we offer this Website as a fitting tribute to the aforesaid two illustrious gentlemen and our beloved uncles.
As the tracing of genealogy is a continuous task, we shall endeavor to update the information as more data are found. At this point in time, we hope to provide you with a humble journalist's eye view on the genealogy of the Guiangs.
Finally for this foreword, yet importantly, credit goes to my younger brother Alex R. Guiang, a Harvard University-trained on executive leadership and a retired senior management in finance at the government of the City of San Jose, California, for having conceptualized the idea of putting up this Guiang Website in 2004, the early year of social media. His earnest effort is second to none for this is now the result of Alex's fruitful toil--the Guiang Website, his brainchild, so to speak.
At this juncture, may we invite you to this Website, enjoy reading, and thank you for your visit.
